Labour Party[]
The Labour Party is the oldest party in the IDR and has been a dominant force in Insular politics since its founding. It is most often described as social-democratic and aims to establish a strong welfare state.

Insular Republican Party[]
The Insular Republican Party, often referred to as the Republicans, is the second oldest party in the IDR and has also had a tight grip on its politics since its inception. The Republicans are a centre-right party with a focus on a strong government, and maintaining order and safety.

The Liberal Party, often referred to as just the Liberals, are relatively new in Insular politics and focus mainly on personal freedom and privacy laws.

Nationalist Forum[]
The Nationalist Forum, shortened to the Nationalists, is a young party which profiles itself as the only party with an outspoken anti-immigration policy. They can be described as radically conservative and is the largest opposition party in both the Senate and the Assembly. They have never been in a cabinet.

The Greens are a large opposition party focused on environmental politics, non-militarism and human rights.

Insular Socialists[]
The Insular Socialists is an opposition party which advocates for democratic socialism (unlike the social democracy of Labour), more extreme solutions to climate change and human rights than the Greens and has a mostly young voter-base. Like the Nationalists, they are considered very radical.

Balearic Front[]
The Balearic Front is a regionalist party which believes the Balearic states (Mayorka, Menorka and Ibitza) are ignored by other parties in the Insular parliament. They mostly advocate for more state autonomy, and a representation of the Balearic people in parliament. It is the biggest party in all 3 Balearic states. While often described as centrist or big tent, there exists a minor radical wing which advocates for complete Balearic independence.

Melitan Rights Party[]
The Melitan Rights Party (MRP) is a minor regionalist party for the Melita State. It only runs in Melita and is the biggest party there. They are often described as a sister party to the Balearic Front, but are legally separate due to their different demographics and voter base.

There are currently 4 independent politicians in the Insular Assembly. The Senate currently has no independents. 3 of the Assembly independents are former Liberals who disagreed to a coalition with Labour. The remaining independent used to be a member of the Socialists but left due to disagreements about immigration.

Government[]
Legislative[]
The Republic's legislative branch consists of the Insular Parliament which is divided into 2 chambers, The Insular Senate and the Insular Assembly, which are the upper and lower house respectively.
Insular Senate[]
The Insular Senate is composed of 200 members elected by the 7 state governments of the IDR. Each state gets to send a number of representatives based on their population.
The Senate is responsible for checking if legislation approved by the Assembly complies with the constitution and state legislation. While they cannot propose any new legislation, they can amend legislation and send it back to the Assembly to be voted on again. Legislation cannot be passed if the Senate does not approve with at least a 101 seat majority.
Insular Assembly[]
The Insular Assembly is composed of 500 members directly elected by the population of the IDR. It has the responsibility of proposing new legislation and keeping the government in check. All legislation approved by the Assembly gets directed to the Senate for further approval.
